Be A Table Captain!
Do you know others who are passionate about the rights and well being of immigrants? Be a "Table Captain" and get them together to join you in filling a table at the KIAC 2018 Dinner and Auction Event!
Want to be a Table Captain? Here's how:
1. LET US KNOW.
Contact KIAC volunteer Airen at firstname.lastname@example.org to say you wish to captain a table.
2. MAKE CONTACT WITH YOUR PEOPLE.
Identify friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, and others who might want to join you to fill a table (8 seats total) at the event. Now, ask them! Remember, some people you invite might not be able to attend, so be prepared to ask more than seven people in order to get seven "yes!" responses. Talk to them about why supporting KIAC is important to you. Answer any questions they have about the event. If they need time to consider attending, make a plan for how you will follow up with them.
3. HOW SHOULD TICKETS BE PURCHASED? THERE ARE OPTIONS!
Remember that seats are not secured until they are actually purchased. You have options for how you get the seats purchased:
(OPTION A) You can ask each of your potential table mates to simply purchase their own tickets online at the "Buy Tickets..." page of this website. When they purchase their tickets, they will see a "Group" field in the online form. That is where they put your name, since you are their table captain, and that is what indicates to KIAC that they belong at your table. Don't forget to buy your own ticket as well!
(OPTION B) Alternatively, if you would like to personally pay for your entire table, you can do so by purchasing a full table online at the "Buy Tickets..." page of the website. You can purchase a table even if you don't yet have all your guests' information. Simply leave blank the fields for any guests for whom you don't yet have information. Then, as you confirm your guests, you will be able to update your table roster online later by using the code provided to you in the emailed receipt of your ticket purchase.
NOTE: If you or your table mates prefer to pay with cash or checks, that is also possible. Please contact Airen at email@example.com to arrange for this.
4. WORRIED THAT YOU CANNOT FILL A FULL TABLE OF EIGHT SEATS?
Maybe you know a few people who want to attend and sit together...but not enough to fill all eight seats at a table. That's okay. We can fill out the table for you by placing individuals without a table captain with your group. If this is what you want, contact Airen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
5. STAY IN TOUCH. SHARE INFORMATION.
As the Table Captain, you are an integral part of ensuring a great event. As the event nears, take some time to be in touch with your table mates. Generate excitement about the evening's program and the auction packages. You might even prepare some party favors or special table decor for each of your table mates. Plus, stay in touch with KIAC volunteer Airen to be sure KIAC has all needed information for your table roster.
6. ATTEND AND HAVE FUN!
All attendees will have assigned seating at numbered tables. As Table Captain, you get to ensure that everyone at your table feels warmly welcomed to the event. The event begins at 5 p.m., and as Table Captain, you may arrive as early as 4:30 p.m. to prep your table with any welcoming decor or surprises for your table mates.
7. FOLLOW UP AFTER THE EVENT.
KIAC will send a thank you letter, including receipt for any auction purchases, to all attendees, of course. However, we also encourage Table Captains to personally thank their table mates for attending. Let them know how much you appreciate their support of Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center!
